Carolyn Agnew launched her comedy career in 1988 on a dare
to do an open mic night at a local comedy club. It was after that first appearance she was self declared “bitten by the comedy bug”.
Carolyn spent the next two years developing her act on audiences in the Washington D.C. /Baltimore areas, paying her dues with such noted professionals as Dave Chappelle, Wanda Sykes, Patton Oswald and Tony Woods.
With the birth of her only child in 1992 Carolyn left stand-up comedy. Carolyn, being a single parent, believed in order to raise her child she would need to pursue more stable opportunities and decided to return to school to earn a degree in Mass Communications. After an eight years hiatus, Carolyn returned to the stage and her stand-up roots. As Carolyn would say, “When God gives you a talent you use it, otherwise, you will never truly be fulfilled, comedy is one thing that truly fulfills me”.
As a single mom and working professional, Carolyn has tapped into her real life experiences and brings to the stage one hilarious abstract view of life and society’s so-called “norms”. Her subject matter covers issues such as, single parenting, working in Corporate America, education, animal rights and cosmetic surgery.
Carolyn, originally from St. Louis Missouri, has worked extensively in clubs and colleges, has done corporate functions and military installations. Her humor is universal enough to reach a wide audience. She is fresh, innovative and most importantly FUNNY!!!!
When asked what is the next stop for Carolyn after comedy? She simply replies, “ONLY DEATH”.
