"Slow and steady wins the race." Words that Aesop Jones comes to live by. As a youth growing up in Cincinnati, OH, Idris Gray (AKA Aesop Jones) always maintained a sense of humor. His parents recalled Aesop sitting up in his crib at 18 months, laughing at The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. From then on, Aesop used his comic genius to make people laugh everywhere he went.
"I don't care who you are, you have to be smart to be funny. You can do dumb stuff to make people laugh, but you have to be smart enough to know what is going to make that person laugh." He eventually attended The Ohio State University where he majored in history. While he performed a few open mics in college, education was on his primary focus. After entering the "Real World," he realized it was a little too real for him. Comedy was the place to be.
An admirer of such comedians as Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx, Aesop brings to the stage an observant comic style that many can relate to. He plans to bring alot to comedy, but also understands that comedy is a work in progress. He is now studying comics as Jim Gaffigan, Tony Roberts and the late Mitch Hedberg. "Money and fmae are definitely things to look foward to. But at the end of the day, if people laugh at my jokes so hard, they forget what made them upset, then my job is done."
