Matt Knudsen was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was quickly whisked away to grow up in the unforgiving cold of the Midwest. After finishing school in California, he started his life at sea as a merchant marine, sailing to various ports in Europe, Africa, Central and South America, Japan, Korea and China. After almost 5 years, Matt put down his sea-bag, picked up a microphone and began performing stand-up comedy at clubs in Los Angeles and New York.
This led to work in television and film including memorable guest spots in HBO’s Golden Globe nominated series “Big Love,” the Emmy winning, “Boston Legal,” and Matt’s personal favorite, Jesus Christ the Therapist on “Malcolm in the Middle.” Kids would know Matt best as arch villain, Sonny Appleday in Cartoon Networks first live action series, “Out of Jimmy’s Head.” In addition, Matt has appeared in several high profile commercial campaigns for clients including Pepsi, Apple Computers and General Electric, which have aired during the Superbowl and the Olympics.
As a stand up, Matt has performed at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and appeared on The Late, Late show with Craig Furgeson.
Matt’s comedy is clean and “personally general.” He loves Bill Cosby, Jerry Seinfeld and Steve Martin.
