Danny Rolando launched his standup comedy career at a small open-Mic in Washington, DC and has been getting great reviews and steady bookings on the East Coast ever since.
From the Washington Post (7/17/10): “Danny Rolando may just be the next great comic out of Washington, DC…How fitting would it be that the same metropolis that produced Dave Chappelle, Wanda Sykes and Tommy Davidson might also send up a Latino comedy superstars..”
Rolando has an animated, hysterical view of society--especially political correctness. Whether he is talking about what a Latino white house might look like (“There would be a plywood addition for Granpa Nestor and many white vans in the driveway that would say: President / Contractor”) or devising “relationship math,” to tell him when he can break up with a woman who just bought him a PS2, Rolando is comfortable performing in front of all types of audiences.
He has featured at The DC Improv, The Baltimore Comedy Factory, The North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, Sully’s Comedy Cellar, The Baltimore Annual ArtScape, The Arlington Draft House, Liberty Laughs Comedy Club, The Riot at the Hyatt, Wolftrap and Side Splitters Comedy Club. He has opened for Alonzo Bodden, Tony Woods, Gary Owen, Cory Fernandez, Allan Havey from Curb Your Enthusiasm and singing legend Julio Iglesias.
Rolando was also tapped in April to headline in front of 350 of Washington, DC dignitaries and executives at the First Annual Comedy Fundraiser for Latin American Youth Centers, a national lobbying group promoting education and work programs.
