Carlos Kotkin’s father, from Southern California, met his mother, from Mexico, while vacationing in La Cuidad de Mexico. They got engaged after a few days and moved to an apartment in San Diego. Carlos is the only known documented case of a woman travelling from the United States to Mexico to have her baby. He returned to Southern California a few months later (with the help of his parents). When he was in high school, he worked at Sears in the hardware department.
