Got a funny short film? Sweet. We want it. The Funny Film Competition is open to all students nationwide. We've already got some and they're posted to the RooftopComedy?.com Funny Film Showcase. Check 'em out! They'll get you through a boring class or a long train ride and they serve as a great distraction from your homework. Try it, you'll see. The Funniest 4 Filmmakers head to the Final Screening at the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival.

Rooftop Comedy Rough Cut

We here at Rooftop Comedy know it can be a little overwhelming to have to watch hundreds of films and vote on your favorite. So, we're helping you out by starting you with the funniest 32. Right now we are watching all of the qualified film submissions and will announce the 32 that make the cut on October 26. The 32 films are being chosen based on quality of production, originality of content and comedic wit.

Rooftop Comedy Fine Cut Voting Round

Now it's your turn to tell us which films should advance in the competition. Have a look-see and vote for the funniest films out there. Votes can come from anyone, anywhere so remember to promote films on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. The 16 films with the most votes advance to the Rooftop Comedy Director's Cut.

Okay, this is where we get all professional-like and turn it over to the big guys. We've asked some of the film industry's most highly esteemed experts out there to review the 16 films and choose 8 of them they think carry the highest quality in humor, production and originality.

New Funny Film Production Round

This is where we really test the filmmakers' creative muscle. All eight remaining filmmakers in the competition are required to make a new funny film. Rooftop Comedy will determine and announce the new funny film topic on www.RooftopComedy.com/college on November 13, 2009. Participants have two weeks to complete this challenge. Same film criteria applies as original submission....must be under 5 minutes, no profanity, must be funny, blah, blah, blah.

Dec 2 – 9, 2009

Rooftop Comedy Master Cut Voting Round

This is the final cut to decide the Funniest 4 filmmakers heading the Final Screening at the 2009 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. The public will vote for their favorite films in this online voting round. The four films with the most votes received during the Master Cut will advance as the Funniest 4 Filmmakers to head to the Final Screening in Aspen.

June 10 – 13, 2009

The Final Screening at the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival

The Funniest 4 Filmmakers head to the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival to compete for the national title of Funniest Filmmaker. All finalists' films are showcased at the Final Screening before a live audience. Audience members and online viewers vote for their favorite Funny Filmmaker to determine the winner.
