RooftopComedy Launches 2nd Annual National College Comedy Competition

RooftopComedy (www.RooftopComedy.com), the leading provider of original stand-up and sketch comedy content for mobile, web and broadcast outlets, today launches the 2nd Annual National College Comedy Competition, the search of the country's funniest college students. The competition has two categories, Stand-Up which kicks off on January 29th and Funny Films, which is currently accepting submissions through March 15th.

For the Stand-up competition, RooftopComedy will be visiting 32 campuses from January 29 to March 6, culminating in the Finals at the Aspen RooftopComedy Festival on June 11-13, 2009. During this first, on-campus, phase of the Stand-Up competition, any enrolled student from the 32 schools can compete for a slot on their school’s Comedy Team. College Comedy Teams then go head-to-head against regional rival schools in a series of online-voting and live elimination rounds, all of which are open to the general public. The top teams from each region will then travel to Aspen, CO to compete in the Finals which will be broadcast live via the web at RooftopComedy.com/college

The Funny Film category will identify the best, most compelling comedic short films from student filmmakers at all schools throughout the US. Entries must be submitted at www.RooftopComedy.com/college and received by March 15, 2009. Like the Stand-up category, a series of celebrity judging and online voting rounds will narrow the field, with the final four contestants having their films screened at the Aspen RooftopComedy Festival to determine the winner. Voting for both categories can be done online at www.RooftopComedy.com/college or via mobile phone by going to m.rooftop2009.com, which is powered by Buzzwire, the exclusive mobile voting partner for RooftopComedy. The films and stand up acts of contestants will also be featured on Buzzwire’s mobile RooftopComedy site throughout the competition (m.rooftop2009.com).
