Leading Syndicator of Comedy Content Signs Deal to Provide Original Mobile Video Programming for Optus, Australia's 2nd Largest Telecommunications Provider
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — RooftopComedy (www.RooftopComedy.com), the Internet Comedy Channel and foremost interactive media provider of stand-up and sketch comedy for mobile, web and broadcast outlets, has signed a syndication deal to provide original mobile video programming to Optus mobile customers via Optus ZOO beginning October 2008, it was announced today by Will C. Rogers, the Founder and CEO of RooftopComedy.
RooftopComedy adds Optus to its impressive list of syndication partners that include Nokia, Motorola, iTunes, Sprint, YouTube, ROK Entertainment, Hulu, DailyMotion, Buzzwire, Lexy, mSpot, and MobileStreams, along with many others. The original programming originates from the network of clubs throughout Australia, the US, Europe and Asia with whom RooftopComedy partners. RooftopComedy records all live performances 365 nights a year, publishing the best on the website and syndicating select, topical content to each of RooftopComedy's media partners.
"This partnership with Optus is an important milestone in our international expansion as our content has been available via mobile carriers in the U.S. and Europe for the past two years," said Rogers. "Australia has a rich history of comedy, and we've been working with comedy venues and comedians in Sydney and Brisbane since the end of 2007. Syndicating our content to comedy fans in that country is a perfect fit for both partners."
"Together with RooftopComedy, we're helping to give our customers access to a comprehensive catalogue of mobile video programming. We're confident our Optus Zoo customers will enjoy this content," said Mark Mulder, General Manager, Optus Content and Portals.
