Editorial ProducerApply

Rooftop Comedy is hiring an Editorial Producer to manage the development of online content. The ideal candidate knows comedy and stand-up comedy inside and out, has experience managing creative contributors, and wants to work with a young, fun company at the vanguard of interactive media.

The Editorial Producer is responsible for ensuring that our comedic writing and comedic video content is timely, relevant, funny and meets our clients' editorial requirements. Additional responsibilities include:

• Recruit and manage a remote, distributed group of comedic writers and video contributors
• Plan and oversee day-to-day content programming across a 24/7 publishing calendar
• Direct day-to-day content creation, including identifying and managing assignments, providing editorial feedback and direction, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of content to our clients

Qualifications

• Experience managing staff of writers, bloggers, video producers, etc.
• Experience with and ability to provide critical feedback and tactical direction on the creation of media assets, including copywriting and video editing
• Demonstrated experience managing content creation and coordination in support of a regular publishing calendar
• Broad knowledge of news, current affairs, and popular culture – and an eye toward identifying related comedic commentary that is timely, topical and relevant
• While not a primary function of the position, the ability to write compelling, funny copy

Successful candidates will have a passion for interactive media, enjoy juggling multiple tasks, be comfortable working long hours both inside and outside the traditional 9-5 workday, and have experience in a startup environment.

Software ArchitectApply

Our primary interactive systems are www.rooftopcomedy.com, www.sucksbox.com, www.rooftopmedia.net as well as a supporting intranet. The sites are built using Spring, Hibernate and jQuery. There will also be great opportunities for mobile platform development (iPhone, Android).

Rooftop has a very clean, lightweight infrastructure implemented with best practices in mind. The original Software Architect has been using Spring since the early days and his deep knowledge of the framework can be seen throughout the applications.

More specifically, we are using annotated Spring controllers that use a service and DAO layer to access the JPA annotated domain model through Hibernate. We are also using Hibernate Search to update our Lucene index automatically. Since the applications are running in different JVMs, memcached is being used as a distributed cache.

Required skills:

• At least 4 years in a leading development role
• Strong knowledge about web development, Java, Spring framework and Hibernate
• Knowledge about HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON and jQuery
• Familiarity with Linux, Tomcat and MySQL
• A genuine interest to stay up to date with current technologies as well as learning new ones

We're looking for a seasoned Web Developer to join our team to implement the front-end of our new web and mobile interactive systems. This is very much a hands-on design and development role, using the latest technologies to build highly engaging user experiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years experience building and deploying complex, data-driven websites using HTML, CSS, DHTML, and JavaScript. Candidates should be very familiar with template systems such as FreeMarker, and the Yahoo! Interface Library (YUI).
• Exceptional development portfolio; Expert level skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript coding.
• Solid understanding of web usability and design principles.
• Desired but not required skills include AJAX, PHP, Java, ASP.NET, Flash/ActionScript, Databases, Source Control, and Linux/Unix administration.

• Coming up with funny crap to put on the web
• Making a mean cup of coffee. Or knowing where you can buy one
• Running errands, being reasonably helpful, or just chilling out around the office
• Ability to lift up to 64 ounces

Must prefer "Coffee and Donuts Dude" job title to "Barista", "Barist-o", "Beverage Specialist" or "Executive Vice President".
