Welcome to the Clip of the Month contest!

Every month, Rooftop rewards the star of the most popular clip on the site with a $250 prize. Who decides what's the most popular? You do, through your views and ratings. Once a comic's clip is published to RooftopComedy.com, it's scored for 7 days. The winning clip is the clip with the highest score, calculated by a combination of ratings and views. The winning performer gets $250 for their hard-earned laughs. In addition to clips filmed by Rooftop, video submissions of pre-recorded stand-up performances are also eligible for the Comic of the Month contest (provided they were shot in front of a live audience at a professional comedy club).

Rules and stuff

  • Winners of the Clip of the Month contests have submitted a pre-recorded video clip that generates the highest score, or appear in a clip recorded by RooftopComedy.
  • A clip's overall score is the product of the average user rating and the total number of times a clip was viewed during a 7-day period.
  • A comic, performer, sketch group or filmmaker can have multiple clips participating in any contest You can watch a clip as many times as you want, but only your first rating will count toward the comic's score.
  • A clip has to have been rated a minimum of 10 times to be eligible.
  • First, second and third place finishers in the Free for All are determined at midnight on of the last day of the Free for All period. If at that time a clip hasn't been published on RooftopComedy for a full 7 days, it continues to be rated and will be eligible for the following Free for All competition.
  • If we determine that a contestant appears to be blindly giving other competitors low ratings in an effort to increase their own chances, or creating multiple membership accounts in order to rate themselves (and others) more than one time, we reserve the right to disqualify that comic from the competition. Plus, that's just not cool.
  • In the event of tie the prize money will be split between the winning performers.
