RooftopComedy records select performances from comedy clubs around the world and publishes the best of the best online via the RooftopComedy network. We made RooftopComedy to serve as a new avenue for comedians. Comics get more exposure, the ability to sell their own stuff on our site, access to professionally shot video of their sets, and a customized online profile.

We've got some very cool features, shows, prizes and other ways for you to make more money all in the works. Make sure you sign up as a comic member (it's free) in order to get the word when new programs get introduced.

Here are some answers to the questions we're asked most often. But if we've missed something there's contact info at the bottom.

How do people find me on RooftopComedy?   [–]

If you're a comic on the site, we've created a custom address for you: http://www.rooftopcomedy.com/YourName. Check it out. This is a permanent address, so you can use it to direct viewers to see your clips.

You recorded me. May I get a copy of my entire set on a CD or DVD?   [–]

How do I get a copy of my clip that's playing on RooftopComedy?   [–]

If you've got a video on RooftopComedy and want to post a copy to your website, MySpace page, Facebook page or any other site, you can simply use either the "share" or "embed" features at the bottom of the player when it's playing your clip.

How do I record or distribute a CD or DVD with RooftopComedy's Label?   [–]

We work with a select number of comics to produce comedy albums and DVDs, distributing them via our site and our partners such as Apple iTunes. If you have an album that you've already recorded but want to get it out there in a bigger way, let's talk. If you want us to produce your album altogether, the first step is being a RooftopComedy comic. Then send a note to comics@rooftopcomedy.com and we'll take it from there.

What about this Aspen RooftopComedy festival in May 2009? I want to be in it!   [–]

That's great! We'll begin taking formal submissions in the fall of 2008 and we'll be nailing down the line-up after the first of the year. In the meantime, let us know you're interested. Send us a note to aspen@rooftopcomedy.com, and we'll get back to you with more info on the festival and the submissions process when it becomes available.

How much of my set are you going to use?   [–]

If you're participating in an open mic, we'll post your whole set — it probably isn't that long. If you're appearing in a showcase, as a feature or as a headliner, we'll just publish a short teaser of your performance, likely something between :30 seconds and 4:00 minutes of material. If you explicitly ask us to publish your entire 45-min set, we'll do it, but you have to tell us to do so.

What if I have a bad set?   [–]

It happens to the best of us. If you're really not happy with how things went down, drop us a line and we'll remove that set from the site.

What if I want to be on Rooftop, but I'm not performing at one of your venues?   [–]

If you've got a well-produced video recording of a set you think killed, submit it to us. Our editors will take a look at it and, if it gets them rolling, we'll get it up on the site in a day or two.

What will this cost me?   [–]

Zero. Everything you currently see on the site is free to comics.

What about my material? Is this exclusive?   [–]

You own your material. You're giving us the OK to promote your stuff via the RooftopComedy network by using a clip or clips that we record, but you're not giving us exclusivity over any of your material.

Who made Rooftop?   [–]

This site was started by comics and a couple of nerds who love comedy. We're convinced comedy doesn't have to be the watered down bullshit you see on TV, and we want to support both up-and-coming and established working comics by helping them find a larger (and cooler) online audience.
